How to maintain a Healthy Organisation


Free to Erewash Groups

The voluntary sector is currently under greater pressure than ever before and the financial implications facing many organisations in the sector are challenging.  

Erewash Voluntary Action is putting on two free seminars for Erewash groups designed to help organisations work through the issues that need considering if they are to maintain a healthy organisation.

 


 
For organisations run by volunteers or staff there will be a session in the morning 10am – 12Noon 

Who should attend: Members of organisations run by volunteers and without any paid staff or Staff and trustees from organisations with paid staff.
Aims of the session are to explore:
·        Reserves
o   What reserves should you have?
o   What reserves do you have?

o   Reserves policy and when to spend reserves
·        Planning for sustainability
o   Financial planning
o   Income generation
o   Core and project income
o   Cash flow forecasting

o   Cost reduction
·        When  trouble may  strike
o   Hoping for the best, planning for the worst
o   Mergers/collaboration/partnerships
o   Communication
o   Winding up ‘properly’ and how to leave a lasting legacy
o   Who to talk to for help /resources
·        Small groups forum – exploring  the idea of a small groups forum
 
      ·        Future financial planning


       o   Looking at the economic trends and how they may apply to your group


o   Short term and long term financial planning




These sessions will be facilitated by Peter Stone Consulting.

CREATIVE WRITNG – A POSITIVE ROUTE TOWARDS GOOD MENTAL HEALTH AND GENERAL WELL-BEING

Are you feeling depressed and anxious, struggling to cope with the stresses and strains of modern life?  Why not join us at Long Eaton Library for our new writing for well-being sessions?  Research confirms that writing expressively is therapeutic, relaxing and good for you, boosting self-confidence and feelings of well-being,

Whether you’ve never written anything but shopping lists before, or been a secret scribbler for years, come and be inspired by music, location, colour, language, essential oils, and the seasons.  Begin a well-being journal, a short story, or a memoir about your life, become a diarist or explore your poetic self with tips and support from an experienced tutor, Chrissie Hall.

Our sessions are relaxed, friendly and informal, suitable for all ages (0ver 16s) and abilities, if you need to bring a writing buddy along to help you access these sessions please contact me. Places must be booked in advance.

Session Dates – this is a six week course with each session following on from the next,   A nominal charge of

£2 00p per person will be payable on the day.  The course will run from September – December at fortnightly intervals.  Dates & venue to be confirmed.

VOLUNTEERS' DROP IN EVENING

Erewash Voluntary Action, Granville Avenue, Long Eaton, NG10 4HD

People from all walks of life volunteer to develop new skills, gain new experiences, meet people and make new friends and, most importantly to have fun!

We invite you to come along and meet with staff and other volunteers. It will be an opportunity for registered volunteers to discuss their volunteering roles, look at new opportunities and find out about events and training coming up in the next few months.

Anyone who has been thinking of volunteering is most welcome to pop in to find out more too!

3 C’s course – Chat Chill and Create. This is a Free course.


Please can you promote the 3 C’s course – Chat Chill and Create.  This is a Free course.

The course starts on Thursday 20 September 2018 for 7 weeks until 1 November from 10.00 am – 12 Noon at Erewash Voluntary Action Granville Avenue Long Eaton Derbyshire NG10 4HD.

 No particularly experience of art is required the aim of the group is to help improve people’s confidence and mental health and wellbeing using create activities and an opportunity to socialise with others.  All materials will be provided.
 
Kate Smith – award winning children’s illustrator and designer and mental health champion will be leading the course.
